In this article students explore various materials to determine if they are rocks or man made. Students (particularly those living in a urban area) have difficulty determining if some materials are man made or nature made and the lesson included helps them determine the difference. The lesson also employees a formative assessment about rocks. The video suggested moves rather slowly and would probably hold the attention of older students.
