This article emphasizes using the word “evidence” with students so they understand why something happens. There is a simple to do lesson plan on students exploring the motion of rolling balls. One interesting aspect of this lesson is to cause a table to tilt slightly when students are not present. When they come to class explore the motion of balls on the floor and then put a ball on the tilting table and ask the children why it rolls off. See if they notice that the table tilts slightly. This would be the “evidence”.
