As an Early Childhood Education preservice teacher, I often question how I am going to integrate STEM into my future classroom. This article was brief, but full of information! It provided different resources that support STEM not only for teachers, but also for parents. I do agree that we (ECE) need more training and PD to effectively implement STEM learning.

Being a Kindergarten teacher, I always questioned if incorporating STEM into the classroom at such a young age would be too challenging for the students. This entry focuses on STEM and how it is beneficial for STEM to be integrated in the early childhood experience for children to build their cognitive skills to meet the uprising technology world that children are being exposed to. Children automatically build a readiness to engage in STEM by simply asking questions and engaging in curiosity. STEM experiences can support children’s growth as far as the executive functions and literacy development. The entry goes into briefly stating an examination conducted and the findings of this examination. It gives teachers an idea of the misconceptions we may have about STEM as well as it states some of the benefits of STEM. It also states some recommendations for those interested in making sure STEM is part of the early childhood experience.

This article is a really good read if you're interested in STEM education, and how important it is for early childhood education. Through the article I learned that young children usually show interest in STEM in their pre-k years while they are playing with blocks, and different puzzles. These skills are important for brain development. Early support of STEM education will support diverse growth across many areas. The technology revolution made it imperative for children to start learn STEM subjects. A normal misconception about STEM is that most educators and parents think that STEM is only available and taught, or even introduced to older generations. However, we must implement these interests in the respective subjects at an early age.
