After presenting students with items that can be easily analyzed for their element content the teacher becomes an Element Analyzer in an Element Walk performed by students to have them become more familiar with the elements in the Periodic Table of Elements and the world around them. The article not only provides the how and what of the game but also sample results and problems students experience during the game. After the completion of the walk students look for patterns in their results such as once living objects contain C, H and O. The walk is used to help students move on to more difficult topics.
