This article describes “content specific integration” in ways that lessons meet the Common Core State Standards for both mathematics and science. After a short scenario, the authors talk about what they did with their students to integrate the disciplines in a lesson dealing with air pressure. Included in this article is a table for the Unit Outline, listing the activities they used to address the Standards. The authors then provide a three Phase Unit Plan with a conclusion based upon their classroom observations. They also included a 100-point rubric to assess student’s knowledge and a five-page student worksheet to guide the students in their investigations. The authors have spent a considerable amount of time developing this lesson, showing the integration of all four contents areas. I suggest this article to any middle school teachers wishing to address the Common Core Standards fusing the other content areas in their curriculum.
