This alternative lab report idea reveals student thinking and allows students to visually represent concepts via key words, concept maps, data tables, events, and conclusions. Vee maps encourage reflection and explanation of the learning process, which will help guide teachers in correcting misconceptions. A thorough rubric is also included that will allow teachers to immediately begin vee map use in their own classrooms. Although this article was directed for high school classes, vee maps can be modified to meet the learning needs of individual students and grade levels.
