This article offers an overview on using visual images in science teaching. Specifically the article references ideas such as creating flashcards, the use of images to develop observational skills, and even discusses briefly the use of cell phone cameras in the classroom. I have been considering adding a visual image observation to my daily bell work routine. Over all, this a short, easy to read article packed with lots of ideas on how to use visual images to further engage students in their learning.

This article promotes the use of digital images to document and assess what a student is observing and can be used for sequencing and other applications for assessment. With the availability of digital images via cameras and cell phones, students need to take advantage of this. The author also introduces ImageJ from the NIH which is image analysis software. There are also free photo enhancing software packages as well. It is a win-win idea for every teacher.
