This chapter features Earth and Space science StEMT lessons. For this disciplinary core idea, we chose a simple lesson focused on soils and the role soils play in plant growth. The lesson starts with students being asked questions about what plants need. The teacher can experiment here or just ask the basic questions provided. There is no right or wrong question or answer—there’s only what works to initiate student learning.
