This case study provides a summary of the invention of Post-It Notes. In this lesson, students learn about the invention which resulted from an accidental discovery that has led to them being a household item. Students also learn about the properties of other adhesives and design their own product that incorporates a gentle adhesive to solve a problem. This case can be used as a way to integrate engineering into a lesson on atomic structure, bonds, and cohesion and adhesion. A materials list, teacher notes, teacher background information, safety notes, standards, assessment, resources, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, About the Authors, Acknowledgments, Introduction, Appendix, Image Credits, and Index.
