Vibrations

edited by: William C. Ritz and William Straits

This activity explores sound and vibrations using rulers. Children are asked to observe and describe how the ruler moves or “vibrates” as it makes sound. After noticing that different sounds are possible, children will change the position of their ruler to make different sounds. A materials list, internet resources, standards, and safety practices are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, About the Editors, Introduction, Simple Graphing for Young Children, Science Teaching Boards and Boxes, Basic Materials List, and Index.
