Talking About Science and Religion Beyond the Classroom

by: Joseph W. Shane, Lee Meadows, Ronald S. Hermann, and Ian C. Binns

This chapter provides a consolidated and modified list of advice that we find helpful for science-religion outreach. Many of the points are similar to what we already do as science teachers and educators, but with a few caveats. What would it take for you to step outside the comfort zone of your classroom to engage audiences other than your students? The bulk of the chapter is devoted to responses by four key individuals to a common set of questions about advocacy. Some additional insight about advocacy adapted from two well-known organizations is also offered. Teacher background information, references, and resources are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, About the Authors and Contributors, and Index.
