In this chapter, the objective of the activity “Footprint Fun” is to explore how feet differ from animal to animal and to think about how foot structure is related to animal behavior and habitat. It includes two activities, My Foot and Animal Print Stamps, and the procedure for each is described. Chapters 1 and 2 are also included in this book selection. Chapter 1 focuses on science inquiry and the use of “The Early Years” column to support science and engineering learning. Chapter 2 focuses on assessment and the value of assessing children’s learning to understand how to make teaching more effective. It has an example of an assessment tool showing sequences of children’s science behavior in early childhood, with related scientific and engineering practices. A materials list, teacher background information, references, assessment, and outcomes are provided. Also included in the book selection are the Table of Contents, Acknowledgments, Introduction, A Word About Safety, and Index.
