This chapter highlights documents such as the National Science Education Standards that were designed to be achievable by all students, no matter their background or characteristics. Project 2061: Science for all Americans and Project 2061: Benchmarks for Science Literacy, a long-term initiative of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) to reform K-12 science, mathematics, and technology education nationwide. The Scope, Sequence, and Coordination Project designed to broaden the U.S. pool of potential scientists and engineers and further the value of science for everyone rather than just a select few.
