Scientists and Engineers Are RISK TAKERS (Grades 3–5)

by: Donna Farland-Smith and Julie Thomas

In this lesson, students learn that scientists and engineers are risk takers. They read about scientist Nikola Tesla in the book Electrical Wizard: How Nikola Tesla Lit Up the World. After reading, students observe and explore the differences between direct current (DC) and alternating current (AC) electrical systems. This selection highlights the practice of engaging in argument from evidence, and it includes the Table of Contents, Foreword, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, and Index.
