Now Just Wait A Minute!

by: Richard Konicek-Moran

This story obviously is aimed at the technology standards. Two simple timing devices are mentioned with the suggestion that more are possible. These can be improved to meet the challenge or other devices could be invented. Students are being challenged to either improve on an idea that already exists or to be creative and think of another type of timing device. To judge this challenge, it is a good idea to have a stopwatch that is accurate to at least tenths of a second. Students often become very creative—and competitive—in meeting this challenge.
