There are three parts presented here - a preface, a prologue, and the actual chapter. I focus on the chapter. This chapter addresses the three components of an "instructional core" that outlines what it takes for students to successfully learn, components of reform - how can it be broken down into components and each of these analyzed for how to do them, challenges for implementation and impact, and a plan of action towards successful reform. The plan of action is interesting and seems based on the sci ed reforms of the 50's and 60's. Overall the information presented explains how complicated science education reform is and how many people are involved and affected. There are good reasons presented for seeking this reform.
