The purpose of the activity, in this chapter, is to help students understand hominid evolution and to recognize the challenges of identifying evolutionary relationships between hominid species using fossils. This activity also helps students learn how to engage in practices such as planning and carrying out investigations, arguing from evidence, and communicating information. In addition, this activity is designed to give students an opportunity to learn how to write in science and develop their speaking and listening skills.
