Mark Sibla

Senior Vice President, Competition and Operations

INDYCAR

Mark Sibla was named Senior Vice President of Competition and Operations for INDYCAR in February 2025, expanding upon his leadership responsibilities following six seasons as Chief of Staff and his tenure as Vice President in 2024. In this role, Sibla oversees INDYCAR's competition operations, event execution, engineering, technical regulations, travel logistics, timing and scoring, technology, and transportation while leading many of the strategic initiatives that will define the future of North America's premier open-wheel racing series.

Among his most significant responsibilities is directing the development and implementation of INDYCAR's next-generation IR28 race car and the accompanying 2.4-liter hybrid powertrain platform, both scheduled to debut in 2028. Working closely with manufacturers, suppliers, teams, and technical partners, Sibla is leading one of the largest engineering and competition projects in the series' modern history, focused on advancing safety, performance, cost control, sustainability, and competition while positioning INDYCAR for long-term growth.

With more than two decades of experience in motorsports, Sibla began his career with Truesports, owner and operator of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where he advised corporate sponsors before joining INDYCAR in 2008. He advanced to Director of Client Services in 2011 before serving as Vice President of Partner Strategy from 2012 through 2016, helping lead the commercial strategy and partnership development efforts for both INDYCAR and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He later transitioned into executive leadership roles overseeing competition and operations, bringing together commercial, technical, and operational expertise to help shape the series' strategic direction.

A former student-athlete at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Sibla earned Academic All-America honors while graduating cum laude. He later earned his Master of Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
