All-Female Computer Science

Young women pursue educational and occupational careers in computer-related fields less frequently than do young men. One approach to increasing female enrollment and interest in computer science is to give female students at the high school level the option of taking computer science courses in either an all-female or mixed-gender format. This article describes a study that revealed that in an all-female environment, students were more comfortable taking risks—an important component of the learning process.
