Society for College Science Teachers: Perpetually Updating

Keeping current with the research in science education is as important as keeping current in discipline-specific research. The Society for College Science Teachers (SCST) has been providing leadership in promoting research in science education for almost 30 years. In 1998, SCST adopted a position statement, “The Scholarship of College Science Teaching,” defining scholarship in college science teaching and outlining the means through which a teaching scholar could demonstrate mastery of scholarly activity. This article features some of these guidelines which can serve as a guide to potential areas to pursue for research in teaching.
