A Curriculum for Recitation Sections in Introductory Biology: Designing Lesson Plans for TAs that Emphasize Open Communication and Spirited Interaction with Students

Recitation sections are led by a graduate teaching assistant (TA). Introductory biology is often the TAs' first recitation teaching experience, and the TA receives little guidance on how to direct the section. In this article, the author developed a teaching guide and a collection of exercises for TAs to help facilitate discussion with students. The article emphasizes the importance of this curriculum.
