Integrating Introductory Biology and General Chemistry Laboratories: Making the Necessary Connections Between Scientific Disciplines at Boston University

Journal of College Science Teaching—December 1999/January 2000

This paper discusses how two different laboratory sections can employ nontraditional investigative laboratory modules that integrate concepts from cell biology, molecular genetics, and chemistry. During each module, students analyze data, draw conclusions, and design their own original investigation. The integrated, biological-chemical modular format helps prepare science majors for modern research-oriented upper-division courses in the two fields.
