Preparing the Next Generation of College Science Teachers: Offering Pedagogical Training to Graduate Teaching Assistants as Part of the College Reform Agenda

Syracuse University initiated a comprehensive Teacher Assistant (TA) program called the Future Professoriate Project—a project designed to prepare future faculty members for their teaching role. The goal is to transform TAs into confident, knowledgeable, effective teachers who enjoy the opportunity to help students develop and learn and who think in terms of the learner and ask themselves: "If I were a student in this class, what would I want to learn and why?"
