NSTA’s federal and state advocacy efforts are aligned with our mission to raise the profile of science education. These initiatives—combined with grassroots member engagement—support federal STEM funding streams, advance policies to benefit science teachers, and advocate for science alongside math and reading as a federal and state education priority.

  • Informal Education State Advocacy Toolkit: Developed with the Afterschool Alliance, this toolkit provides strategies for engaging state and local policymakers on out-of-school STEM learning
  • General Advocacy Resources: Sample letters, policy briefs, and tips for meeting legislators to advocate for science and STEM funding and policies.
  • Committee on Education Funding: The Committee for Education Funding (CEF) provides a strong and unified voice in support of increasing the federal investment in education.
  • National Center for Science Education: NCSE works with teachers, parents, scientists, and concerned citizens at the local, state, and national levels to ensure that topics including evolution and climate change are taught accurately, honestly, and confidently.
