Citizen Science: Be a Zombee Hunter for Science
This column highlights formal and informal science research projects that students can join and contribute to by gathering and sharing data. Celebrate National Honey
Month this September with honeybee citizen science. ZomBee Watch, a project in
partnership with San Francisco State University and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, needs your help in tracking the honeybee parasite (Apocephalus borealis), a fly that turns honey bees into “zombees,” causing them to exhibit strange behavior away from the hive at night.
