For decades, NSTA’s print journals have been a valued part of the member experience, delivering trusted insights, association news, and professional knowledge directly to mailboxes around the world. In fact, The Science Teacher predates the formation of NSTA itself. As publishing and reading habits continue to evolve, we are announcing that our journals will transition to an online-only format as of June 1. We recognize that NSTA’s print journals have long represented an important tradition for many members; this decision reflects both changing member preferences and our commitment to delivering content in more timely, accessible, and sustainable ways.
Moving to fully-digital publication with our partners Taylor & Francis allows us to provide members with faster access to new articles, issues, and collections without the delays associated with printing and mailing. Readers will be able to search across issues, download articles instantly, access content from any device, and receive alerts when new research is published. The Taylor & Francis website offers a host of accessibility features, enhanced discoverability, and allows members to engage with content wherever and whenever they choose. Download a single article or an entire issue, have an article read to you, or download an EPUB version to your Kindle.
NSTA’s online journals offer features that simply are not possible in print. Members can explore supplemental datasets, embedded video and audio content, interactive figures, citation tools, and direct links to referenced research and resources. Digital publishing also enables us to publish content more dynamically and efficiently, ensuring that important developments reach the community more quickly while creating opportunities for richer educational and professional experiences.
This decision positions NSTA to invest more fully in the future of scholarly communication and member engagement. We are grateful for the support of our readers, authors, reviewers, and editorial leaders over the years, and we look forward to continuing to deliver high-quality, impactful publications through an enhanced and innovative online experience.
