The students are correct there are significant variations in how work the same work is graded by different evaluators. This is perhaps most worrisome in large survey classes that employ more than one grader. A significant source of this variation is whether evaluation focuses on correct answers or correct derivation processes. What is it that we value and how should it be rewarded.
