Students are exposed to countless examples of fictional and narrative work, but non-fiction seems to be overlooked far and wide. This article holds your hand and gives step by step instructions on how to use a garden to help your students grasp non-fictional writing. Keep in mind that gardening is just one medium, use whatever medium is comfortable for you, but the stages of the writing process will still be applicable. Excellent article.

I really enjoyed this article and how it really got students into the school garden as scientists. Not only were there examples of what to have the students do in their role as the scientists but there were also examples of handouts and students work. Being able to see real student outcomes here through illustrations and images definitely impacted my review positively, Overall this is a great article and it is full of helpful ideas to get your students into the garden.

This article is well written and goes into great detail on how to help strengthen students' nonfiction writing skills. Narrative writing is something that doesn't get much time spent on. This article has a great way of showing how to use hands-on things, like a school garden, to help students understand and be successful with nonfiction writing. The article is very thorough, which is something I appreciate because I don't get to see much science taught in the classroom, so I come to these resources to help familiarize myself better.
