This editorial is mainly about the nature of science and more specifically about the nature of scientific knowledge. The author of the article points out that there are characteristics of this knowledge that must be understood. One such premise is that scientific knowledge is always subject to change. Another characteristic of scientific knowledge is that it is at least partially based on empirical data (quantitative and qualitative) gathered through scientific investigations. Scientific laws and scientific theories are simply more sophisticated versions of observations and inferences. The author urges educators to let students know these premises and to make sure they learn in the way scientists learn.
