This article starts with the reflections of an astrophysicist and education researcher of the first time she had to present the results of an experiment to fellow elementary students. She points out that as a scientist this type of sharing is not unusual. She states that fields of study that cannot progress without mechanisms for sharing, reviewing, and debating results. With this in mind she points out ways a teacher should start students ‘doing research’ in groups on the same topic so that they can learn to share, review and debate the results with their peers.
