Informal education experiences are all around us. Visits to the zoo, botanical gardens and museums are just a few. This article provides an assessment checklist that helps educators assess their classrooms in the way informal educators do in the same way young children would look at the classroom. This needs to be done from the student’s point of view to create a child friendly environment that encourages engagement in science activities. The article encourages mapping the room and then provides examples of how to make it more appealing. This is a great approach for an elementary teacher of young children.
