The author of this article accepted a stint at a National Science Foundation program called Research Experience for Teachers (RET). This program combines classroom teachers with researchers at universities. The purpose of this program is to strengthen educators understanding of science, math, and engineering. She and the scientist developed microscopy units of student for her third grade students.
