Virtual experiences and field trips may provide many of the benefits of collaborations between scientists and students without the time and cost required to travel between sites. In this article, the authors, thoroughly explain how they arranged with two elementary schools, one middle school, and scientists at a local university to virtually provide a multilevel inquiry experience using common pond organisms. I would highly recommend reading this article for any teacher considering a virtual field trip.
