This article explains the need to make positive communications with the parents of the children you teach no matter what the background is. Start parent (or guardian) conversations outlining all the positive aspects of the child. When the positive is achieved then you can ask for help with the areas that need more attention. This reminds me of the lyrics of a song that states: “With a Spoonful of Sugar the Medicine goes Down.” I believe this is true and parent/guardian involvement is the key to successful students.
