This article was written before the NGSS came out and in it one learns about the changes the new standards tackles. Included in the NGSS are engineering practices. Another change is the vertical alignment of our core science courses (biology, chemistry, and physics). Another change has encouraged teachers to increase debate and evidence-based argumentation while problem solving with their students. This article should be read and reviewed by all teachers and all science teachers should look at the new standards starting off slowly.
