As educators recognize the power of inquiry in the classroom, the Conceptual Change Model (CCM) is gaining popularity across the country. Those who are using CCM are reporting that students are highly engaged and excited about learning and they are gaining a deeper understanding of concepts, improving their use of process skills, and developing competency in the inquiry processes advocated in the National Science Education Standards (NSES). This chapter discusses how the correlation to the NSES Inquiry Standards and alignment with NSES recommendations makes the CCM ideal for fostering scientific inquiry at all levels of education.
