Artistic Expressions in Science and Mathematics

Journal of College Science Teaching—February 1998

At Chicago's Columbia College, students taking science or math classes have undertaken a new type of assignment that incorporates the application of artistic skills in the curriculum. In this activity, students complete a project that brings art together with science or math. Students can choose any one or a combination of different art forms. This assignment works exceptionally well with nonscience majors, promotes interdisciplinary thinking and creativity, and extends science and math beyond their traditional domain.
