Force and Motion Collection

Force and Motion is a fundamental concept in physics and I had the opportunity to teach it in a college level mechanics course (Phys 250) at the physics department in PSU. Going in I had very little information about the background knowledge students have and the misconceptions they might have sustained through high school. My goals for this NSTA collection is to include resources that teachers can use to build up their content knowledge and inform themselves of the common misconceptions and difficulties students might have understanding a particular concept. I have also included some standards aligned inquiry based activities that are classroom ready and can be implemented by the teachers ‘as is’ in their laboratories. Keeping in mind the importance of formative assessment, my collection also includes tools that teachers can use during instruction to assess student learning. Wherever appropriate I have indicated the grade level targeted by a particular resource.
