PLU: Using the Putting the Pieces Together Instructional Routine Collection

PRIVATE

9 items

In this module, educators will be introduced to the four elements of the Putting the Pieces Together (PT2) Instructional Routine. In the Putting the Pieces Together Routine, students synthesize ideas they develop across multiple lessons and figure out how to put them together to explain a phenomenon or design a solution. The (PT2) Routine was developed as part of a suite of routines in Storyline units, but it can be used in any type of lesson sequence. For example, if you are using the 5E instructional model, students are putting pieces together in the Explain phase. Participants will consider how the routine provides opportunities for students to partner with the teacher in deciding what they have figured out and what questions or gaps in the explanation need to be resolved as recommended by the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and other Framework-based three-dimensional science standards.
