Formative assessment is an assessment that teachers can use to evaluate students learning during a lesson or unit. For my classroom, three formative assessments are asking questions, making observations, and doing individual activities. Asking questions: I can ask open-ended probing questions to measure students understanding of the lesson. Making observations: I can observe students' learning by observing how they interact and engage with the materials and their peers. I can also observe how students respond in their discussions. Utilizing morning work activity as a formative assessment. I can provide students with an activity that they will complete individually. Formative assessments related to my fall unit will help inform and support me when planning additional lessons. They will also help me meet my student's needs and make necessary adjustments.
