Book Beat Live! Next Time You See Book Series, February 4, 2025

Led by NSTA Early Childhood-Elementary Committee members, the web seminar addresses the relationship between the NSTA book series, Next Time You See, and natural phenomena, providing an interactive platform for educators to discover how this series of books can support and enhance science and engineering practices in the classroom.
Participants will explore the integration of the NSTA book series with science and engineering practices through cross-disciplinary connections and hands-on activities that educators can use in their classrooms. The presenters will cover the following aspects:
Literature Selection: We will discuss strategies for selecting the appropriate book from the series that align with specific science practices.
Inquiry-Based Learning: Participants will learn how to use this series to foster inquiry-based learning that encourages students to ask questions, make predictions, take careful observations, and gather evidence.
Hands-On Activities: The session will feature hands-on activities that link science and engineering practices to the series.
Assessment and Evaluation: We will discuss assessment strategies for measuring the effectiveness of SEPs and literature-based science lessons, including rubrics and formative assessments.
All individuals receive a certificate of participation and 100 NSTA activity points for attending the live seminar and completing the end-of-program survey. A certificate of participation is not awarded for watching the recorded version of the program.
We invite you to register for upcoming web seminars at NSTA.
