Biomedical Engineering and Your High School Science Classroom: Challenge-Based Curriculum that Meets the NSES Standards

by: Stacy Klein and Robert D. Sherwood

The program highlighted in this chapter—the Biomedical Engineering Challenge-Based Curriculum—features science curricula that meet numerous More Emphasis standards through the use of challenged-based “Legacy Cycle” materials. Challenges are based on application of biomedical engineering topics that allow students to learn important concepts in physics, biology, and anatomy and physiology. Extensive field testing has proven these materials to be more successful in teaching basic science, as well as giving students the ability to solve new problems.
