Bubbles Raising Raisins

edited by: William C. Ritz and William Straits

This activity involves observing raisins moving up and down in clear, carbonated soda. Slowly pour some cold, clear soda into a clear, plastic cup and have children observe the bubbles rising in the soda. Then allow them to drop three to five raisins into the soda and watch them sink to the bottom of the cup and begin to jiggle. Children will observe that bubbles eventually stop forming in the soda and when this happens the raisins stop moving. A materials list, internet resources, standards, and safety practices are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, About the Editors, Introduction, Simple Graphing for Young Children, Science Teaching Boards and Boxes, Basic Materials List, and Index.
