This problem addresses direction, distance, and speed by having students develop ways to use speed, time, and distance to describe a motion. Students determine whether self-propelled toy cars are moving at a constant velocity and focus on measuring the speed. This problem can be adapted to a human motion such as giving someone in a wheelchair a smooth ride by keeping the speed constant. A materials list, teacher background information, safety practices, assessment, and outcomes are provided. This book selection includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Catalog of Problems, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Image Credits, and Index.
