How Would a Magnet Work on the Moon?

by: Page Keeley and Rand Harrington

The purpose of this assessment probe is to elicit students’ ideas about magnetism. It is designed to reveal whether students think gravity has an effect on magnetism. Before using the probe, it’s important that students know how conditions on the moon—less gravitational force, no atmosphere—are different from conditions on Earth. It is best used with middle and high school students.A materials list, teacher notes, standards, assessment, safety notes, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Authors, Introduction, and Index.
