Looking at Me

edited by: William C. Ritz and William Straits

This activity focuses on students looking at their skin, fingernails, hair, and clothes through a magnifier. Give each student a magnifier and ask them to look at their hands through the lens. Listen to their comments to see what they are discovering. A follow-up activity is provided where students use stamp pads to make fingerprints on pieces of paper and use magnifiers to compare their stamped fingerprints with those on their fingers. A materials list, internet resources, standards, and safety practices are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, About the Editors, Introduction, Simple Graphing for Young Children, Science Teaching Boards and Boxes, Basic Materials List, and Index.
