From NGSS to Instruction in an Elementary Classroom

by: Rodger W. Bybee

Implementing the standards does present significant challenges—the obvious and immediate challenge of classroom instruction. There also is the long-term challenge of contributing to students’ progressive understanding across the K–12 curriculum. This chapter presents one teacher’s response to the challenge of translating standards to classroom practices. It progresses from a brief review of the performance expectation to an instructional sequence and assessment. Teacher background information, standards, assessments, and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Foreword, Preface, About the Author, Introduction, Appendix D, and Index.
