Perspectives for STEM Programs

The theme of this chapter is addressing the goal of citizens’ preparation to developing and implementing STEM programs. In this chapter, details are provided on specific perspectives, such as one involving a framework for STEM programs and content relative to contexts, competencies, content, practices, values, and skills for those programs. More detailed information about the perspective for developing K–12 STEM programs is also provided. In addition, there is some discussion of citizenship and civility as these aims relate to STEM education.
