Professional Development of STEM Units

by: Rodger W. Bybee

This chapter addresses the connection of professional learning to the development and implementation of STEM units. The plan centers on teachers developing, field testing, and implementing the units, all with professional guidance and support. The professional learning activities proposed are a synthesis of experiences with curriculum development. These ideas—along with issues associated with implementing science standards and other experiences—are all combined as part of a proposed professional development curriculum led by teams of teachers developing STEM units for their schools. Teacher background information is included in this book selection, as well as the Table of Contents, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Author, References, and Index.
