Reviewing Education Research Supporting Instructional Models

by: Rodger W. Bybee

This chapter reviews education research supporting instructional models, including the 5Es. The BSCS 5E Instructional Model is grounded in sound education theory, has a growing base of research to support its effectiveness, and has had a significant impact on science education. Although encouraging, these conclusions indicate the need to conduct research on the effectiveness of the model and to continue to refine the model based on direct research. Chapter 10 is included in this book selection and provides background on how implementing the BSCS 5E Instructional Model is one means to achieve the professional goal of improving student learning. Teacher background information and references are provided. This book selection also includes the Table of Contents, Preface, Acknowledgments, About the Author, Appendix 1-5, and Index.
